Supplementary Education

The main aim of supplementary centre is to provideeducational support to the children of our parishes who are too poor to afford private tuitions.The main purpose of offering education support to the school children in the intervention area was to help them improve their level of learning, thereby achieve high performance and scoring in the examinations in the formal school system. In the programme, primary focus was given to those school children who are unable to afford the high fees for private tuition and didn’t have pleasant atmosphere at their home studies. During this year 21 centres were opened in 5 regions with the support of 91 supplementary teachers and 1349 students. To capacitate the Supplementary and Nursery Teachers a two days’ training programme were organized and 3 half day training were organized in Central level and 11 half day training sessions were organized in regional levels on various subjects relevant to their teaching. A partial financial support was also given to these centres to support and encourage the teachers.

Quality Education Programme

Quality education programme is initiated in the village of Karumkulam. 65 students participated in this programme. It is an accompaniment programme where two teachers analyzed the strength and weakness of them, which was encouraged and rectified with the help of experts and parents.. Out of six working days Yoga was conducted one day. This would help the students to release their tensions. With the help of Loyola Poovar another Quality education programme was started in Poovar. 30 students participated in this programme.

Financial Help For Supplementary and Nursery Centres

To support and encourage the service of supplementary teachers, nursery teachers and quality education partial financial help is given to those centres taking part in both Forane and diocesan level programmes. This helps to encourage better participation and improved performance for the development of the centre. Review and evaluation of the functioning of supplementary was regularly conducted in the meeting where the teachers present their reports in every month at regional level in the presence of forane priest coordinator and every thrice in a month at central level. With the help of child line we found 16 dropout students and got them admitted to schools.
