Women Empowerment through Vanitha Vedies
Women empowerment programmes carried out mainly through Vanitha Vedies. It is a forum for the women to stand for justice and equality of women in the Church and Society with the spirit of Gender sensitivity. It is realized by enhancing sustainable and integrated development of women through awareness classes, organization, capacity building and resource mobilization. 52 units of Vanithavedies have formed and classes on leadership and motivation are given in central, regional and unit levels. Awareness on Family relationship, Social commitment, Domestic violence, Substance abuse and Kitchen garden are conducted in all the regions. Dowry being one of the major evils of the society, Vanithavedi has given much focus on this issue and conducted discussions and seminars on dowry and extravagance in marriage and related celebrations. Vanithavedies are taking up issues concerned to women, family and other social issues. In some of the villages, they are giving leadership for the anti alcoholic movement. We could develop a good rapport with other womens organizations (Government and Non Government) in Trivandrum city.
