Supplementary and Continuing Education Programmes
Supplementary Education Program: Supplementary education aims at promoting education through guided study and provides a place conducive to learn among the poor children who can not afford special tuition and who are not much attended by the parents. This program is effectively conducted in 34 centers of all the six coastal regions. Students regularly come for the classes which are arranged either in morning or evening. They are guided by the teachers from the villages. Apart from that, night classes are conducted for SSLC and Plus two Students to prepare for the examination. Special days like Independence Day, Children’s Day, Onam, Christmas are celebrated in the centers. Anti-Alcohol, Anti-tobacco, AIDS Day, World Health Day and Earth Day are observed with due importance. Every alternative month evaluation and planning is done with the teachers at central and regional level for the effectiveness of the program.
Dropout centers: Dropout centers are well functioning in some of the coastal villages like Paruthiyoor, Vizhinjam, Poonthura, Pulluvila where dropout level stands highest compared to other villages. Classes are conducted in morning and evening. Apart from this, dropout children are motivated through classes and other sessions to be mainstreamed again as regular students.
