Primary Health and Community Health Programme
The work of TSSS in the health direction is focusing to healthy person, healthy community and healthy environment. Individual health is formed and nourished through community health. General medical camps have been organized in many of the villages according to their needs and demands. The camps were conducted with the service of Jubilee Memorial Hospital,Govt. CHCs and PHCs and other private hospitals. The general medical camps helped us to find out the health situation of the community and individual persons and responding to the need of the area. According to the results of the medical camps many of the doctors opinioned that these sickness are due to low percentage of water in their body, their life style and nature of their occupation, unhygienic health practice etc. With an aim to inculcate good health habits awareness classes are conducted in regional and village level on various topics. Epidemics and communicable deceases during Monsoon diseases are one of the disasters that the coastal region is facing today. The health team members intervened into this by preparing and distributing IEC materials. School health programmes are part of the intervention. Eye Camps, Cancer detection camps etc are conducted in all the regions with the help of specialized doctors of specialty hospitals and detected cases are referred and support was offered. Blood Doner’s forums are formed in different villages to meet the emergencies.
Some of the recent completed projects:
Reproductive Child Health (RCH): TSSS carries out Reproductive Child Health (RCH) program focusing mothers, children, eligible couples, women and adolescents in the corporation areas of Valiyathura, Vallakadavu Airport, Bengladesh Colony, Muttathara, Bihmappally and in certain wards of Vizhinjam and Kottukal panchayaths.
Major activities under this programme are; awareness programmes to motivate the people to get treatment in RTI/STI and to speak out their health problems, Adolescents Health, Health Mix Distribution, Napkin Distribution, Awareness on Menstrual hygiene, Advocacy Meeting, RCH Medical Camp, Immunization programme, House Visit of the clints, Iron Tablet distribution for adolescents, Formation of Radio club,Vocational training for adolescents. This program focuses to avoid complication of pregnancy and to provide safe and confidence to the pregnant women. RCH can define as ability for reproduction and child health (RCH).
H – 13 Project: TSSS carries out HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and intervention among drug users to prevent and reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS in Valiathura, Cheriathura, Beemapally, Pathacher, Manikavilakkom, Muttathara, P.P.Nager, Vallakadavu, Sulimathurai, Chakka, Parithikuzhy, and Airport. Counseling service is offered to the clients and to their partner, IEC material is distributed in schools and among the public, OSB/OST oral substitution of Buphrenorphine / Therapy given to the needed persons, awareness classes and house visit of the family of the clients are some of the major activities of the programme
